The Midnight Man (2018)

Boring, long, and too preachy.

This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.

Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.

First, you don't play a bloody strange game out of nowhere without knowing the rules. Yet these 2 bloody dumbasses (sorry actor/actress, not your fault) dived straight into the crap hole. Second, the other girl is totally dumb (my apology to the actress). You came to someone house during the night and the house was dark AF, really? Just stay at home and sleep. Third, that cheap silicon masked man looks cheap af.

I had no expectations going into this movie and was still disappointed. Biggest caveat is there were zero reasoning or purpose for the characters to even start the process. You would think that after a movie like 'Cabin In The Woods' that horror directors would step up their game to ensure that they are not just an unintended parody of themselves. But alas, must not have gotten memo.Main actress unable to act...check Dumb boyfriend/husband that goes along without questioning...check Left alone in dark room....check Having non-nonsensical conversation while someone is trying to kill you...check Do not run away when trouble arrives...checkBy the time this movie ends you no longer cares who will make it or not.

Here's a huge spoiler: this whole movie is a mess. Starting out at the characters in the movie. I didn't understand any of the characters at all. They all felt dumb to me because they just did whatever they wanted without any rationalization, like no real person would do. Some appeared here and there out of sudden, and it was really confusing. They didn't have any chemistry at all to each other, especially the love story of the main characters that felt way too forced.Secondly, the plot is laughable, and there are plotholes everywhere. The story kept on jumping from one part to another and the explanation was non existing. Lastly, none of the actors nor actresses act decently. The main actress' acting is so plain. None of them delivered any good impression on whatever character they're portraying. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 is for the appreciation of the director's effort for at least making the atmosphere a horror-movie-like. Yeah, if only the plotholes were fixed and the whole casts were changed, it'd probably be a decent horror movie. But for now, it should probably be labelled as a comedy movie.

Why even bother making this kind of "movies"? That is as much of a review as it deserves. Laughable...
