Seasons & Episode
Episode 1 is dedicated to four 18th- and 19th-century crimes that changed the world. Among them is the French case surrounding the death of the Calas family’s eldest son. The dubious entanglements between the state, the church and the judiciary inspire Enlightenment philosopher Voltaire to get involved and spark a discussion about religious freedom in Europe.
These crimes trigger wars, throw entire nations into turmoil and serve as crucial turning points in history. Episode 2 delves into four cases from the early 20th century whose consequences continue to have an impact today. They include the Sarajevo assassination that sends the world into war, and the gruesome climax of a gang war that makes Al Capone "Public Enemy No. 1".
In Episode 3, we witness the disappearance of the dream of an entire generation, see how entire state systems are undermined, and uncover social ills. Four crimes from the second half of the 20th century change the world forever: Charles Manson‘s cult murders cause shockwaves around the globe. The drug war in Colombia escalates, placing Pablo Escobar in the sights of the American FBI.
