No Monnie (2023)

Janna is enthusiastic, she is going to high school for the first time, but Janna is also nervous, will she fit in with the rest? Janna soon makes a new friend, her name is Malou. She thinks she's very cool, but she also becomes insecure about all her new, trendy clothes and stuff. Janna occasionally has the feeling that she is behind in everything. Janna doesn't feel so relaxed at home either. Apparently her parents stopped her handball membership. Janna is angry, she really likes handball. She doesn't understand anything...

Janna's father has been fired from his job. It makes Janna restless. She is also concerned about her younger sister Zoë, who is still too young to understand their parents' money problems. It is the first week after the autumn holidays and Janna's new friends told the nicest stories about the trips they had made. Janna's holiday was less pleasant. Her father had to sell their car due to lack of money, and he and Barbara just argued. In order to take a hot shower, Janna and Zoë now have to shower at the public swimming pool around the corner. Janna wants to do something, she wants to help her family.

It's December. Janna has had her first period. As a result, she fainted during the beep test during gym. Things are also going less well in the other lessons. Janna's mentor wanted to talk to her because her grades were deteriorating. Janna is worried. She just can't focus because it's so cold in the house, and because she's hungry more and more often. Still, Janna had a wonderful Christmas with her family. She and Zoë even received new winter coats from their grandparents. Janna also celebrated Christmas with her three best friends at Malou's house. It was really cool, except for one thing... Janna is panicking.

Janna's family now receives a package from the Food Bank every Friday. At first she was ashamed of it, but now she's used to it. Janna has also gotten her period again. This time she has no sanitary towels or tampons at home, so she has to stay home from school. Janna feels sorry for her sister Zoë. She is left out of school and her feet are covered in blisters from her shoes that are too small. Janna decides to help her. The first time it goes well, but the second time it goes wrong. Janna got caught in the shoe store. Her parents are furious. If only everything was the way it used to be...

Janna had a conversation with her mentrix. She explained her entire situation, to which fortunately she responded very well. She has also contacted Debbie again, they are friends again. But Janna and Malou had a fight at school. Immediately afterwards Janna regrets it. She shouldn't have taken everything out on Malou... Not much later it is Janna's birthday. She talked it out with Malou and Barbara organized a surprise party for her. It was so much fun, her parents were happy and Gerard is going to apply for a new job again. Janna has the feeling that everything is finally getting better again.
