Félix rebolledo is a pimp who owns a cabaret, two bingo halls and three dating houses. He now intends to open a party hall, and for this he has - as he always has - the support of the Bishop, whom he has bribed with frequent donations. Counting on the support of the Church, it will be much easier for him to have the approval of the City Council, although, on the other hand, he also has bribed, among others, the mayor and the president of the Council of the Deputation.

When a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.

This movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.

This is a typical post-Franco's period's film. Once finished the long dictatorship full of censorship, Spain started in the late 70's and more in the early 80's to change. Many films reflected that spirit in their plots, and here is one example. Presented as a blue film, full of nude girls, men in their underwear and wicked dialogue lines, it is really a protest film. It protests against the archaism, against the Church full of prejudice and control over the society which reminds the old Inquisition. Note that the title of the film (Los chulos) can be translated as 'The pimps': The character Félix Rebolledo is a pimp, but he's not the only one.Now let's have a look at the 'envelope' of the film. We can find the couple Esteso-Pajares, which appear in many Spanish films. Always funny and hilarious at times, they are the perfect duo for the light-hearted comedies they star in. Their exacerbated theatricality is the ideal ingredient for the comic atmosphere their films need. And now let's talk about the secondary cast: Alfonso del Real, María Isbert, Luis Barbero, Florinda Chico, Ricardo Merino and Juanito Navarro are all great actors, all of them charismatic, all of them prolific. All in all, this isn't a great film, but it's entertaining. My rating is 6 out of 10.
