A screenwriter is sent to Mexico to develop a story that can be used to wrap up a movie presently in production. Given a very short time allotment, the writer immerses himself in the seamier side of a Mexican beach resort, but soon finds himself involved in a 'body organ for profit' operation. Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.
Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.
Close shines in drama with strong language, adult themes.
Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.
