This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.

It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.

My friend first suggested me this movie and I thought I wouldn't like it and god I was wrong! I really loved how it starts as this guy who is all alone and is in space (or kind of...). I first didn't quite like his character that he got problems, but I see why and how. Every time he saw the girl around a time was there the shipping started! I wanted the main character and this girl to be together and they did in the end! But how the main character tried to make this girl to like his brother was just amazing how hard he tried it. He didn't give up, not even once! I really loved it, I thought it was really touching. It had some downs, like really small ones. But they're ignorable, otherwise really love this. This is a romance movie I can actually like to watch without telling what happens next right away.

A warm, funny and emotional story of 18-year-old Simon (Bill Skarsgård), who has Asperger's Syndrome and want life to be punctuated exactly the same day after day, week after week. It includes everything from meals to activities. He shares the apartment with the more boisterous brother Sam (Martin Wallström), but when his girlfriend (Sophie Hamilton) breaks up, Simons life crashes together. His habitual security is gone. He needs to find a new girlfriend for his brother. How do you do? Can you have a girlfriend audition for his brother? May sound a little weird, but ... the filmmakers stitch together all the different elements to a mixture of romantic comedy drama about two brothers, friendship and warm description of an outsider. With Cecilia Forss in a colorful supporting role. The film was Sweden's Oscar nomination and was almost nominated. It was eliminated at the finish line. Director Andreas Öhman's other film "Bitch Hug" was on the cinema this fall.

This film is about a young man with Asperger's syndrome trying to find a girlfriend for his brother, as the brother's girlfriend cannot tolerate his apparent eccentricity."Simple Simon" is a pleasant surprise. It offers accurate insight into how the mind of a person with Asperger's syndrome works. The rigid routine of Simon is comical and delightfully portrayed, helped by the on screen texts and diagrams, and the huge wheel in Simon's bedroom detailing his daily routine. The characters are very human, Sam is loving and caring, while Jennifer is tolerant and accepting. We see subtle changes in Simon too, leading to a happy ending. I think "Simple Simon" will help people to understand Asperger's syndrome, and hopefully help people to be tolerant, understanding and accepting about people with Asperger's syndrome.

I just got back from watching it. Just wanted to pop in to say that if you're on the fence about whether to watch this movie or not: Watch it!I'm generally not a huge fan of Swedish movies as they tend to be quite similar and somewhat thin in terms of plot and characters (huge generalization I know, bear with me), but I absolutely fell in love with this movie. It feels like a breath of fresh air in the Swedish film-industry, and leaves you feeling joyful and amazed. It's funny and sweet but not overly so, and every single character in it felt utterly real and believable to me. Great acting throughout, not least by the young Bill Skarsgård who really brought Simon to life and awoke sympathies and fondness from the audience.Writing and direction managed to perfectly balance humor and seriousness, and to make us see the world from Simons point of view so that no action or event seemed out of place or uncalled for. I also feel that the movie portrayed Aspergers accurately, and managed to make it key to every event without exaggeration or ridicule. I predict greatness for this film.I'm no expert, and these are my views only. I'm guessing someone else here will give a more in-depth review in time, but for now I hope I have convinced you to watch it if you get a chance. It really is worth it!
