Terrible acting, screenplay and direction.

The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.

Just intense enough to provide a much-needed diversion, just lightweight enough to make you forget about it soon after it’s over. It’s not exactly “good,” per se, but it does what it sets out to do in terms of putting us on edge, which makes it … successful?

A clunky actioner with a handful of cool moments.

Ayan is a typical movie in Tamil cinema which makes the industry to next level. This movie is one of the best movie of the year with great action, songs and acting..K.V.Anand being a cinematographer turned director, shown his high talent for making this movie and became a finest director in Tamil industry. His first directional venture "Kana Kanden" fails at the box office but this movie "Ayan" will make him a proud man.Suba's dialogs and screenplay sharing with K.V.Anand are come out very excellent and intelligent.Surya is the excellent performer and he shows it again through the character as Deva in the movie. This movie will never suit for any other stars in the industry. And he is the only man able to do movies like this..All other supporting characters are very good and did their role very excellent.Especially Prabu,Karunas and Tammanna.Haris once again given the best songs with massive rocking musics.BG also very good.Stunt is the very plus of the movie. All the stunt sequences are choreographed very well. Also cinematography and Editing are very good.Ayan is the must watch movie and i recommend this movie for all who loves great Tamil entertaining films..Don't Miss It..............

Ayan has quite a few things going for it. I went for this one, not knowing what to expect (which nearly always seems to work for me). The first half took me by surprise, owing entirely to a brilliantly crafted action sequence set in Congo. K V Anand (Director), M S Prabhu (Cinematographer), Franz Spilhaus (Stunts) and Suriya Sivakumar (Lead) manage to pull off what is easily one of the best staged action sequences in the annals of Tamizh cinema. Featuring Yamakasi, a form of free running or parkour, distinct from its roots in that it accentuates the aesthetic aspect of surmounting obstacles, the sequence has Suriya race through lanes and alleys in a bid to retrieve diamonds from a mob relaying it with ease. Strangely enough, the other action sequences lack the same degree of polish (a car chase later on comes close enough though).Prabhu Ganesan dons a role that suits him and the Suriya - Prabhu dynamic works. Akashdeep Saigal of 'Kyunki Saas Bhi ...' fame playing the villain is a weak link even if the Sowkarpet locality demands such a casting. Tamanna Bhatia as Suriya's love interest has a pleasing screen presence, although there isn't much else to her stint here. The wit and humour in the film are the dicey elements - leaves you in splits one moment and comes across as droll the next. Where it does succeed is to Jegan's (Suriya's sidekick in the film) credit. The songs (Harris Jeyaraj) didn't really register for me. Halfway into the second half, one has the inkling that this might be a loose (very) take on a Hollywood movie (will refrain from revealing it here since it is nothing short of a spoiler). The movie demands frequent 'suspension of disbelief' and I found it wasn't a particularly difficult thing to give. It's primarily intended as a summer blockbuster by AVM, with a smattering of the new and the ground-breaking here and there. Entertaining fare, all-in-all.

Veedokkade is a slick action entertainer that deals with the business of diamond trafficking with the backdrop of friendship. The plus points of the film are Surya, Tamanna and nice screenplay with good commercial payoffs. On the flip side, certain scenes (introducing heroine and her family as prostitutes / ghastly portrayal of friend's killing episode) may be offending for movie lovers of delicate sensibilities. On a whole, Veedokkade is a slickly executed action flick.Cinematography by MS Prabhu is excellent. The virgin locations of Africa are well explored (especially the locations of last but one song shot in a desert). Music by Harris Jayaraj is just OK. Fights by Kanal Kannan (especially the first chase shot in African country) are superb. Dialogues are adequate. Production values by AVM banner are grand.

Ayan is a complete run of a mill movie which has a little bit of everything. The stunts are good and fresh to Tamil cinema (especially the parkour sequence in the beginning) and the songs are well filmed. Surya is stunning and he surprises the audience with his each movie. Tamannah is cute. But the biggest drawback of the movie is that it sometimes tries to be too logical and it borrows a lot of concepts from Hollywood films. The action sequences had a lot of inspiration from movies like "casino royale" and the "Bourne" series. Even the concept of removing cocaine from a doll was inspired by Oscar winning "Traffic". But overall it's not a bad idea to spend 3 hours.
